To start with, there is always a problem choosing the right guitar for the beginners. Everyone wants to look good while and feel comfortable while playing a guitar. The first thing that every beginner needs to do is make a decision in choosing between acoustic guitars and electric guitars. Having the knowledge of both type of guitars can be an advantage in making the decision of buying the guitar.

A basic difference between an acoustic and an electric guitar is the amplification.

Acoustic guitars have hollow body, which amplifies the vibrations from the strings. These guitars are restricted in shape and side, which also plays a huge difference on the sound it generates. An acoustic guitar doesn’t have a wider option to choose from than the electric guitar. One is steel string guitar and another is nylon string guitar. Nylon string guitars are mostly used for classical, flamenco and folk tunes and steel string guitars are generally used for country rock music.

The differences between steel and nylon strings are that steel string is much more louder than nylon string, also mostly steel is play with a pick and nylon with fingers, though most guitarist just use their fingers for both type of guitars.

An electric guitar has pickups, which are steel bars wrapped with wire that hear the vibrations formed by the strings and then sends these signals to an amplifier and are also much easier to play. If you do think about purchasing an electric guitar, then you will also have to spend a bit more money on a good amp, which can be rather expensive.

Most people look for a guitar, which has the quality of both acoustic and electric guitars. As you are the one who is learning to play, you should always go for your own preference. Most people have said that starting to play guitar with acoustic makes it easier to play electric, whereas there are some guitars which are hard to play such as classical guitars, basically because of the shape and size.
